Maps of Elliot Lake and surrounding
areas and some waterfront development maps/links
Here is some basic information for travellers. Elliot Lake to Sudbury is about a 1.75 hour drive.
Elliot Lake to Sault Ste Marie is about a 2 hour drive. Espanola is located about midway between Sudbury and Elliot Lake. There is a convenient Tim
Hortons and Wendys and small market area right on the Main Hi-way. The main Hi-way is HWY 17 (The Trans-Canada Hi-way).
From Espanola you can get to Manitoulin Island and the Tobermerry Ferry to the Bruce Peninsula.

Going south from Sudbury to Toronto area is about a 3.75 hour drive. The hiway is being expanded into a large 4 lane hiway. Parry Sound (Bobby Orrs
hometown) is about 1/2 way
to T.O.  A trip down this hiway takes you through the famous Muskoka cottage area.

Sault Ste Marie Ontario and Sault Ste
Marie Michigan are twin cities linked by a
bridge over the St. Maries River.
Sault Ste. Marie Michigan is on the tip of
a Penninsula. It is called the U.P. or upper
Penninsula of Michigan. To go from the
Upper Penninsula to the lower part of
Michigan you cross the Mackinaw bridge.

I've fished Dunlop Lake and there seems to be a real good population of Small Mouth Bass. You can catch your limit within an hour easy.
There are Trout and Walleye as well. Note the proximity of Ten Mile Lake. Ten Mile Lake Lodge is on this lake. Note all the darker blue dots with
fish on this map and there is a fish hatchery at the Gravel Pit Lake. Lots of little lakes and big lakes to keep a person occupied.

Below are a couple of LINKS which will get you to the
waterfront development web site and map site.
Dunlop Lake Lodge is just off the Hiway and on
the North Side of the Lake. They helped sponsor
and provided the facilities for the Summer Small
Mouth Bass fishing tournament and they are
helping to sponsor an ice fishing tournament this
winter.
I travel the route of Hi-way 17 from Blind River to Ottawa frequently
and can do business along this route. I can pick up
electronic equipment and/or tubes to test and bring them back on a
return trip.
I can also pick up or deliver items such as household
goods or furniture for a very reasonable price. I have a 1/2 ton pickup
truck. Its all part of my small 'self employed" business. Call Earl
705-848-9486 or email earlinclayton(at(@))yahoo.com or you can use
my radio callsign (ve3ab) at rac.ca
If you consult with me about Elliot Lake area real estate; although I am not a
professional in the business, I have owned several country homes and waterfront lots.
I might be able to find you a waterfront property at a reasonable price where there are
no time factor concerning building. Contact me by email or 705-848-9486. At my $10.00
per hour rate..you sure can't lose much!! An hour at Tim Hortons and or on the phone
or by email can sure give you some good specifics. We can actually go look at some
waterfront areas/lots if you like as well. Same goes for houses in Elliot Lake itself. I
have spent a lot of time studying the area and researching for my own purchases. I
have no affiliations with anyone other than myself! see my consulting page for details.
THESE IMAGE FILES ON THIS
PAGE ARE NOT MY ORIGINAL
DRAWINGS. I lifted them from area
web sites. I didn't think they would
mind because I am doing some
advertising for their businesses
and area.
IF there are any issues
with these files (copyright) let me
know and I will remove them or
re-draw them myself.
This is a map of the North Channel of Lake Huron. Manitoulin Island is
the largest fresh water island in the world. Lake Manitou is the largest
lake on this island and is the largest lake on an island in the world.
I think that 42 lb steelhead (see my fishing tips page) was probably
caught somewhere around Kilarney district on Lake Huron.
This whole area (I feel) is rather unpopulated and under developed.
That is one reason I moved up here. Lots of fishing spots to try and
not too much urban crowding. The cottage lots up here are large
northern sized lots. My lot is almost 3 acres (200 ft by 500 ft). It is
roomy and not like some of the really crowded cottage areas in the
more populated districts of Ontario. Quite a bit of crown land and
trails for ATVs and snowmobiles.

It is a bit improvement over my last waterfront property. There my
neighbours all had ATVs and no where to drive them because the
properties were small and there were no trails!!

Another area that is developing some lake front properties is
Thesselon up towards Sault Ste Marie. On the North Channel. Good
area for boating and fishing.
If you like Deer Hunting, a good place for a camp might be Manitoulin
Island or St. Josephs Island or perhaps around the shores of the
north channel. Anywhere in the flatter areas that have farmland and
fields. I personally gave up hunting deer back in 1973. I still hunt birds
a bit.
