R7 Vertical - I took the Cushcraft
black box for the R7 and I built a 20
meter monobander for Field Day
2006. Pictures of this antenna and
general ideas for these types of NO
RADIALs verticals. NOTE: With the
information on my page and from a
few other web sites..you could build
your own version of the "black box"
vertical.
NOTE: I have sold the black
box to a ham who needed one for
his R5. I now am using PAR end fed
antennas and screwdriver style
vertical.

Butternut HF2V vertical Antenna. I bought this one used. The upper
insulator was contaminated and the antenna needed some TLC.
I decided to rebuild it with ideas I thought would work: such as move
the coils up from the base of the vertical (potentially) a bit more
efficiency. Then to compensate I added a bit of top loading to the
antenna and IT WORKED/WORKS. I have used it now for 2 years on 80
and 40 with my LDG tuner in the shack..and I can easily configure it for
160 operation with a loading coil. NOTE: I have now built a screwdriver
style remote control antenna that took the place of the HF2V. You can
still view the old original article on the modified HF2v (link below).

Balun and Coil MUSINGS. I discuss
the Amidon/W2FMI..a bench test I
did and some testing. Also coils in
antennas, I discuss some practical
measurements and applications of
loading coils in antennas with a
concentration on end loaded
antennas (multiband types)

TGM Hybrid Mini Quad.  PIctured below. I
have sold this little mini beam. I now have
been working on new antennas. This
antenna has been around for awhile now.
Advantages: small, easy to handle, does not
seem to bug my neighbours. This one works
14,21,28, 50 and even 144 mhz. The vhf
bands have some swr issues but they can
be tuned and used with this antenna. End
loading (supposed to be the best way to
load).

CITY LOT wire  ANTENNA ideas.

Some of the antennas I have used in
my small city lot operations. I moved
to a small city in 2005 from a country
home. I have had fun with ham radio
even though my antennas are small
and the sun- spot cycle LOW (2005 to
present)
I now have page one about

23rd July 2011. I built up a short vertical using a hamstick base
section for 10 meters combined with a hustler RM15 coil.

It shows a great deal of promise and I plan to mount it right at the top
of the tower above my small yagis. (the article and the project itself
are currently a work in progress..JULY 31 2011.
----->>> This article is a reference for ideas only. I am not going to
likely use this antenna.
I'M MORE INTERESTED IN THE SCREWDRIVER
ADJUSTABLE TYPE ANTENNAS FOR BASE STATION VERTICAL (for full
band coverage continuously).

As an added bonus..it resonates nicely on the 6 meter band. CLIK

Brand new I now have 8 ft of this
Instrument Specialties finger
stock. I may start selling it at flea
markets and on web to hams here
in Canada tinkering with Screw-
driver mobile antennas.
I am building a base station
version of this antenna ..LINK
SOON comming (article)
10 meters has been so good lately that I
have decided to build a 10 meter
version . Pictured above is what I came
up with. The box is a rather soft plastic
box and I strengthened it as best I
could and taped it up to weather proof
it for this winter.
Sept 20th 2011..This project is working! I have taken my 23 ft vertical
and added a hustler 80 meter resonator to the top. The 80 mtr resonator
does not have much affect on the 10 mhz resonance and operation. This
antenna also functions as a 3/4 wave vertical on 10 mtrs (28 mhz).
Pretty soon I will write up a full article with SWR curves. NOTE: with a
monofilament line and a slow speed motor at base..might be possible to
bend the whip at top to resonate at various points on the 75 and 80
meter band for better swr/coverage. That is the plan at the moment.
(remote control).
Brand New Antenna Project - My 17 ft long Home
Brew Screwdriver (motorized coil)
remotely
controlled from the shack. As pictured left. It is now
working with the brand new 12 foot copper pipe (2
inches in diameter). Works from 18 mhz down to 3.5
mhz continuous coverage with motorized coil. See
many pictures (final assembly today (9 Oct -2011).
For a bunch of pictures concerning this project..
This project is still being worked on from time to
time. I plan to improve it as time goes on.

Brand New 17 Nov 2011

I built an End Fed Half
Wave Antenna ..very
similar to the PAR
(LNR Precision) ones.
Mine was for 10
meters..

pictures and swr
curves here..
FOR SALE.. MY
OLD BUTTERNUT
COILS. The HF2V
80 40 coils.

I no longer need
them. email

circuits that are a copy of the
PAR END FED HALF WAVE
matchbox. I found a set of
FLICKR photos of the insides
of this match box and as well I
found a schematic of the EF-20
match box on the web. HAD to
do alot of snooping to find
them.
I ended up buying an EF-20
high power one from LNR
Precision. I built my own
version (pictured right). Butt
ugly but it seems to be doing
the job.

The first trial effort at a 20 meter network using a
red toroid core. I havent gotten around to boxing
it up yet. --- Actually..since the sunspot cycle is
getting going and 10 meters is active again..I have
built and boxed up a 10 meter version..see pics
below.
I bought a second hand home
made screwdriver antenna made
from aluminum. Problem: corrosion.

I have cleaned it up and rewound
the oxidized coil with new wire. I
may build a mobile antenna out of
it this winter.
