There are few if any Crappie up around here in Elliot Lake nor
are there any Largemouth Bass. The half crayfish and knuckle
ball jig was really deadly on Crappies that evening fish.
I plan to use this presentation more often. Might be good in
the fall for bass and other species.
The white tube jig and dead smelt rig caught me this nice Laker.

local areas to fish and the people and businesses who rent boats

All plastic lures are not created
equal.
The plastic frogs with hollow body
and the double hook that reaches
up over the back seem to work
well for me.
The two grass frogs shown below
seem to work ok but I dont hook
the fish as well and I miss alot.
These are large mouth bass lures
primarily and I don't use them here
up north very often now.
Nice Largemouth Bass I caught on Clayton Lake Summer
2007. This was near my old home on the lake. See all the
wild rice!! I have a page started with old pictures of
Clayton Lake. HERE is the link in case you might be
interested.
Clayton Lake is west of Almonte and north of Perth Ontario
(and west of Ottawa).
For shallow water fishing here up North and down south I like
the brooks reefer lures. They are no longer manufactured.
I bought some on ebay. My dad caught a real nice 5 lb L.M.
Bass in Clayton Lake using one of these that he had painted
silver.
I don't go too much for the bottled
scents for lures..but this is the
exception. This real worm
attractant seems to work. I rolled
my plastic worms in this scent and
caught bullheads with them.
Bullheads are little catfish and
they are scent feeders.
The plastic worms I use are the
small ones with the embedded
hooks in them.
I bring frozen smelts with me from
the grocery store. I rub the smelt
body on my lures from time to time.
I use a smelt body inside the tube
jig body for extra effectiveness.
