* snow blowers
* lawn mowers
* lawn tractors
* 4 wheelers ATV
* Argo 6 wheel Amphibious ATV
I have a service manual on CD for
the older ARGO ATVs

* I just bought a small travel trailer
and I know a little bit about these
* mopeds (the older ones)
* outboard engines
* roto tillers
* weed whackers
* chain saws

These are all items I have a direct
familiarity. They all use small
engines (except for the travel
trailer). They all use electrical
circuits and wiring. I'm fairly good
with electronics as I worked in
electronics and graduated from
the electronics engineering
technician program (Algonquin
College Ottawa 1982)
under the hood of my ARGO 6
wheel drive
ATV

                                                                                        is no longer available for my paricular little outboard.

                                                                                        now I may need the services of this company if I need parts.

http://www.argoatv.com/                                                         I have owned an ARGO ATV for about 10 years now. NO Major
                                                                                        problems but the bearings need changing; so Im overhauling it.
                                                                                        The water proof seals started leaking after about 4 years of my
                                                                                        use (I bought it second hand).
                                                                                       I have the service manual. Argo did/or does produce a movie
                                                                                       about self service. (I plan to order one in the new year)
                                                                                       I have found the ARGO dealer in Ottawa On particularly helpful.

the fact that I live in a residential area.

Spring 2007 (30 March to be exact)- Took the ATV (1984 Honda TRX 200) out
for its first run since FALL.   --IT QUIT ON ME-- see my new page concerning
troubleshooting an ATV that "just quits"!
Shortly..I will be working on some
outboard engines and my ARGO as well. More pictures and useful tips will be
comming in the next few weeks on my web pages.

April 2 2007. Spring is here. I'm working on my small engine products.
My honda ATV quit on me! Seems to be an electrical problem..weak almost non existant spark!

Also..in the next few weeks, I'll be working on a couple of outboard engines.
I'll be taking pictures and adding text with useful tips on how to do it your self.
I consult on small engine repairs for a very reasonable rate of $5.00 per 30 minute slice of time. HEY..30
minutes could consist of several emails and phone calls. I go by the minute and I err on your side!

I got this old ATV back up and running again.
Was an ignition problem. Had to buy a new
CDI module part that resembled breaker
points.

Luckily..the parts are still available for this
old 1984 HONDA...but..I think the clock is
ticking down and in the near future..I may
have to try ebay or used parts stores to get
certain things.

I only use this ATV around my cottage lot
and don't travel the trails for long distances
with it.
JUNE 2007 >>>> got my old 1971 Evinrude Outboard to work once again. Fuel
pump and carbuerator problems now for the most part resolved. Time to take this
old turkey out for a spin on Elliot Lake. CLICK HERE TO

I learned a big lesson with this old outboard..
CHECK THE COMPRESSION. EVEN with just
your finger over the spark plug hole.

I did quite a bit of work on this engine before I
checked the compression..then found out...
ONE CYLINDER HAD NO COMPRESSION AT
ALL~!!!!

NO WONDER THE DARN THING WAS SO HARD
TO START AND RAN SO POOR!!!!!

APRIL 2008.. I spoke to a small engine mechanic
and he said it was likely the piston or piston rings.

I took a close look at the head gasket and I see a
tear in it which could be the problem..

click here to see more about this....
VERY IMPORTANT TIP>>>>> even almost BRAND NEW and high
performance spark plugs can go bad!!! Yes..it happened to me just
recently. I took this ATV out for a ride and it worked fine. The next time
I went to start it...NO START! -- REASON ..no spark! REASON.. the
almost new high performance plug was defective! I went out and
bought a new plug and bingo..it started up again.

NOW..I am going to buy a dedicated spark plug wrench and spare
couple of plugs and a little saddle bag to strap right to the ATV and
keep them with it at all times.

o what am I going to do with the defective plug??? I will use it in the
atv as a dummy plug so no one can as easily steal it when it is parked
some where!!!
